Centre aids state in water conservation projects

As a part of its assistance to the states on water conservation and recharge including creation of water harvesting infrastructure through technical and financial support, the Centre released a total of Rs 231.55 crore to Manipur under the policy.
The government of India has been implementing various schemes for creation of water harvesting infrastructure.
Major schemes/ programmes implemented by the Centre for promoting creation of water harvesting infrastructure include Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Watershed Development Component of Prad-han Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (WDC-PMKSY), 15th Finance Commission Grants, ' Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch The Rain' (JSA:CTR), etc.
Among these schemes, Manipur received central assistance amounting Rs 162.28 crore under AMRUT and other proj -ects worth Rs 69.28 crore thus totalling Rs 231.55 crore.
Out of Rs 162.28 crore released under AMRUT scheme, Manipur had utilised Rs 162.02 crore and Rs 66.79 crore for other projects with the submission of utilisation certificates.
Out of Rs 170 crore sanctioned by the Centre for the state under AMRUT-2, Rs 60 lakh has been released with another sum of Rs 2.80 crore provided for other projects out of the total sanctioned amount of Rs 5.52 crore.
From the year 2009-10 to 2020-21, Manipur received Rs 150.56 crore under PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana 1 while Rs 9.24 crore under PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana-2 for the year 2021-22 to 2022-23 had also been released.
The state also received and utilised a total of Rs 611.090 crore under PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana for development of water harvesting infrastructures from the year 2009-10 to 2022-23 (as on 14.03.2023) .
Out of central assistance amounting Rs 227.46 crore released for the state for Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI), Rs 188.14 crore has been utilised.
Under Repair, Renovation & Restoration (RRR) of water bodies scheme till February, 2023, central assistance amounting Rs 24.26 crore was released and the state utilised Rs 26.34 crore.
The state utilised Rs 5157.63 crore sanctioned for water conservation and water harvesting under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme m the year 2019-20 and projects worth Rs 476.09 crore are ongoing.
The state also utilised Rs 15815.43 crore sanctioned in the year 2020-21 and projects worth Rs 691.93 crore are ongoing.
In the year 2021-22, the state utilised Rs 10877.51 crore and projects worth Rs 3226.89 crore are ongoing.
The state also utilised Rs 340.29 crore in the year 2022-23 and projects worth Rs 2899.1 crore sanctioned in the year are ongoing.
The state had also received central assistance worth Rs 18 lakh for GIS Mapping and Preparation of Water Conservation Plan.
