Minister stresses survey of diseases, data update

Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh has stressed the importance of conducting survey of different diseases and updating relevant data.
Speaking as chief guest at a one-day orientation programme for nurses held under the theme "Prevention, Early Identification and Early Intervention of Developmental Disabilities" at RIMS mini auditorium on Thursday, Dr Ranjan observed that majority of the people do not know their health status.
Highlighting that regular testing of health and updating health status will help reduce life risk and expenditure, and consequently augment the health care system, he also emphasised on synergy among depart ments of health, social wel fare and education.
Further assuring necessary measures to improve the healthcare system, the minister commended nurses for their role in the health care system and advised them to discharge their duties sincerely with dedication.
Trainee nurses also should get ideas and share the knowledge gained with others after every training or seminar, he added.
Speaking as the functional president, RIMS director Prof Dr A Santa cautioned that disability of an individual could be due to negligence during pregnancy period of a mother.
"We need to be aware about the possible outcomes when we are careless during this stage," he said.
RIMS dean (academic) Brogen Singh Akoijam, CRC Deyanagere assistant professor Dr Shaik Yageen Shareef, NIEPID Manipur State coordinator Rajendra Kumar and ERC Rajnandgoa special education assistant professor Praveen also attended the programme among others.
