Declamation contest, awareness campaign held

As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav celebration, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal organised District Level Declamation Contest on "Patriotism and Nation Building" under the theme of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas' (Together we grow, Together we prosper, Together we try, together we build a strong and Inclusive India) along with SVEEP awareness campaign on Ethical and Informed Voting as well as Jal Sampad/Water Talks on Rainwater Harvesting - Catch The Rain Campaign at Waikhom Mani Girls College on Saturday.
The first session of the multiple events conducted in collaboration with NSS Waikhom Mani Girls College & District Election Programme was held Thoubal SDO and ERD of Wangkhem & Khangabok ACs Ranjita Mayengbam as chief guest, College principal Dr Th Manao Singh as functional president and Thoubal NYK Youth Officer and SVEEP Nodal Officer Michael Thangminlien Mate as guest of honour.
The session commenced with welcome address Thoubal NYK DACYP member K Lokendro Singh-followed by SVEEP awareness cum Tee Shirt distribution to first time voters of Waikhom Mani Girls College by Ranjita Mayengbam, who also spoke on the importance of free and fair elections in the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assemblv Elections-2022 .
She also exhorted the first-time voters to exercise constitutional right in ethical and informed manner.
The same session also included a lecture delivered by assistant professor (Geography) Dr Kh Jugindro Singh of Thoubal College on the importance of water talk (Jal Sampad) regarding rainwater harvesting and water conservation.
The declamation contest held in the second had 11 participants, who had been shortlisted based on their performances at the block level competitions held at different parts of Thoubal and Kakching district in November.
The competition was held with Waikhom Mani Girls College NSS programme officer Paonam Robinson Singh and associate professor Dr Thounaojam Sunitibala, and Thoubal College NSS programme officer Dr Kh Jugindro Singh as the jury members.
First prize of the district level competition carrying cash of Rs 5000 was won by Khangembam Dayapati Devi while Sophiya Sahani and Lei-mapokpam Prembala Devi were respectively adjudged second (Rs 2000) and third (Rs 1000) position winner.
The three were also presented certificate of participation while Dayapati Devi will represent the district at the state level competition to be held in later part of December 2021.In a statement, district youth officer Michael Thangmilien informed that the prize money at state Level competitions will be Rs 25,000 (first position), Rs 10,000 (second) and Rs 5000 (third) while winners at the national level competition will receive Rs 2 lakh (first), Rs 1 lakh (second) and Rs 50,000 (third) .
