Raseshori Pala fetes titular king

Titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba conceded that he is now able to take up welfare activities for the people after becoming a member of the Rajya Sabha unlike in the past.
Addressing a gathering at a felicitation ceremony organised in his honour by Raseshori Pala at the Royal Palace here on Thursday, Sanajaoba said that many people and organisations opposed him when he tried to contest the MP election and some organisations even demanded surrender of right to kingship.
Despite such intense opposition, he decided to contest the MP election to do some significant works for the people and managed to do the same how after becoming an MP, he added.
Leishemba Sanajaoba also claimed that he had raised around 10 issues relating to Manipur in the Parliament since becoming the Rajya Sabha MP.
Among the issues raised include inclusion of Meetei Mayek script in Indian currency notes, upgradation of Manipur University of Culture to a central university and recognition of Manipuri language as a classical language, he said and vowed to work for the people further.
He also thanked Raseshori Pala for organising the felicitation ceremony in his honour.
During the event, the titular king also released a travelogue book entitled 'Bodh Gaya Gi Sanakhongnang Makhong da' written by Raseshori Pala president and former chairperson of Manipur Commission for Women Dr Ch Jamini as also Raseshori Pala's annual magazine, a Sankirtana cassette and a documentary him chronicling the activities and journey of Raseshori Pala.
The event presided over by Dr Ch Jamini was also attend ed by Raseshori Pala documentary film director Oken Amakcham.
