Noney, July 27 2021:
Company Operating Base (COB) Kotlien of Noney battalion 22 Sector/IGAR (E) on Tuesday organised an awareness programme cum cleanliness drive on Environment Preservation.
The programme was carried out with an aim to promote the "Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan" and to motivate the local to take the initiative for keeping the surrounding areas neat and clean as well as promoting health & sanitation in the villages.
The local villagers also joined the drive voluntarily and carried out cleanliness drive in the village.
The main focus of this event was to educate the locals to stop the use of plastic and stop throwing solid and liquid waste in surrounding areas and use bins for proper waste management.
Apart from this the villagers were also educated about Covid appropriate behaviour (CAB) by maintaining social distancing, washing of hands regularly, wearing of masks.
On the other hand, the battalion also distributed sports items to the youths of Charoi Chakotlong Part-II (CC-II) village at its Tupul COB in Noney district.
The distribution was made with an aim to foster a spirit of sportsmanship among the youth to encourage physical fitness and to promote government's initiative of 'Khe-lo India'.
The battalion has provided sports items with the hope that these small initiatives will bring positivity and happiness in the hearts and minds of the youth since the remote villages do not have adequate means and facilities for sports.
The youths were also educated about various career opportunities in the sports like sportsmen, coaches, physical trainer and other support staff.
