Assam Rifles Memorial Lecture 2021 conducted

The second edition of Assam Rifles Memorial Lecture was conducted by Assam Rifles in collaboration with United Services Institute of India (USI) in New Delhi on Friday.
In a statement, PRO IGAR (S) informed that Assam Rifles and USI had signed an MoU in February 2020 to establish a Chair of Excellence for studies primarily to encompass issues of North East and the region's importance from Geo-Strategic point of view.
The inaugural-edition was conducted through a webinar in 2020 while this year's event was held with physical participation of the delegates.
The lecture was based on the theme "Assam Rifles Guardians of Indo-Myanmar Border: Efficacy, Challenges and Way Ahead" which had former DG Assam Rifles Lt Gen (Retd) Sukhdeep Sangwan as a guest speaker.
The welcome address was given by USI director Maj Gen (Retd) BK Sharma.
DG Assam Rifles Lt Gen PC Nair gave the introductory remarks and highlighted the strength and achievements of the Assam Rifles battalions while performing dual role of both guarding the 1MB and carrying Counter Insurgency Operations in the region.
The DG also spoke on Geo-Strategic importance of North East and further highlighted the contributions of the Assam Rifles in ensuring peace, tranquillity and development in the region.
The Assam Rifles popularly known as the 'Sentinels of the North Last' has committed itself towards security, peace and development of the North East.
The Assam Rifles has not only ensured the safety and security of the region but also ensured unity amongst diversity in the North East.
The Assam Rifles is thereby rightfully known as the "Force that Binds the North East", the PRO conveyed.
