Naorem Jessica, a student of Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School, Sangakpham, who secured third position in Arts stream, has set her eyes for civil services examination of UPSC with the objective of bringing some positive changes in the society.
Daughter of Naorem Hemanta and Aruni of Kakching Ningthou Leikai LIC Mamang Pareng, Jessica secured 456 out of 500 marks with letter marks in English, Manipuri, Sociology, Geography and Education.
She is also the subject topper in Sociology and Geography.
She told The People's Chronicle that she did not expect her result and she considers it as her first and biggest achievement while giving the credit to her parents, elder brother, late grandmother, relatives and teachers for their support and guidance.
She chose Arts stream as she wanted to become a civil servant after clearing the UPSC civil services examination.
For Jessica, every individual has their roles and responsibilities towards shaping the society but the present society is far from that ideal.
She wants to work for eradicating corruption and bring self-reliance in terms of food production.
She urged young students to follow the guidance of parents, teachers and elders, and to choose the held in which they could attain success.
Her father is a small time trader and fish farmer while her mother is a held assistant currently serving at horticulture and soil conservation office, Chandel.
They said that they will provide full support to their daughter in achieving her goal.
