Mega social service camp, baby show organised

In connection with observance of Jananeta Hijam Irawat Day, Thoubal district administration on Friday organised a mega social service camp at Khongjom War Memorial Complex with DC A Subhash Singh leading the officials, staff and volunteers.
Speaking to the media persons, the DC informed that the camp was organised to keep the historical site of Khongjom War Memorial neat and clean.
He also expressed satisfaction over large turnout of all government departments in the district during the social service and further stressed the importance of cooperation and unity in any kind of work.
During the camp beautification and painting of railings, grass cutting, trimming of bushes were done by the participants to facelift the memorial complex.
Later, Wangjing-Tentha MLA P Brojen visited the site and thanked the district administration for conducting such camp.
Around 500 staff and volunteers of different departments and organisations including Red Cross Society, Chamber of Commerce and Mega Tourism Co-operative Society Ltd, Fire Service, CMO, Social Welfare, District Police, PWD, PHED, Water Resources, Forest, Minor Irrigation, MSPDCL, Municipal Council Thoubal, Municipal Council Wangjing, Municipal Council Sikhong Sekmai, Office of the District Information Officer and others also took part in the camp.
On the other-hand, as a part of Poshan Abhiyan, District Health Society, Thoubal organised Healthy Baby Show Competition - 2022 at Primary Health Centre, Wangjing Lamding on Friday.
The competition held in tinder 1.6-11 months, 12-23 months and 24-36 months was inaugurated with NHM Manipur Child Health State Nodal Officer Dr Sadhana Ningthoujam, Thoubal chief medical officer Dr Y Nokul Singh as chief guest and president respectively while district hospital Paediatrician (senior specialist) Dr Waikhom Ruhinikumar Singh, PHC Wangjing Lamding senior medical officer in-charge Dr Konsam Biota and UNICEF consultant Tim Huidrom were the guests of honour.
CMO Dr Nokul advised women to get registered to the nearest health facility from the initial stages of pregnancy, undertake regular health check-up at least 4 ANCs and go for institutional delivery is important for safety of both mother and child.
Mother and healthcare giver must know the importance of infant and young child breastfeeding, exclusive breast feeding till 6 months and complementary feeding afterwards, proper cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation, he said.
He also appealed to the participants to join in the regular and important health programmes like National Deworming Day, Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight, Breast feeding week, Poshan Abhiyan, etc.
Altogether 48 children took part in the Contest.
In Category A (6-11 months), Khumanthem Lamnganba, son of Kh Tomba Singh of Heirok Part - II was declared the winner whereas Apsara Okram, daughter of O Rajendra Singh of Sabaltongba Awang Leikai secured the second position with the third bagged by Avyanna Yumnam, daughter of Y Nilbir of Wangjing Bazar.
In Category B (12-23 months), Moirangthem Lingjel, daughter of M Anil Singh of Wangjing was awarded the first position and Tekcham Tomthinnganba, son of T Ibungo Singh of Wangjing Tekcham Leikai second prize.
Meanwhile in Category - C (24-36 months), Pangambam Shinheiba, son of P Rabichandra of Tentha Marongband and Teresa Pangambam, daughter of P Ojit of Tentha respectively secured first and second position.
The dignitaries presented prizes, certificates and nutritional edibles to the position holders and participants.
