Imphal, January 28 2022:
All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) has appealed to all the 'responsible' tribal electors in the hill districts not to distinguish between political parties but to scrutinise candidates and cast their vote only on the basis of tribal political issue in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, 2022 .
A release jointly signed by AMTU vice president Lunk-hothang Mate, secretary Chui-mei Zimik and advisor Jamkholal Lhungdim appealed to the elec-tors to identify those candidates whose principles and activities have been centred on uplift of the tribal population and uphold political interest of the margin-alised section of the society.
"We the Manipur tribal people have political issues of MLR/LR 1960/62 read with provision 1975/76, cov-ering all the jungles of Manipur hill districts under Manipur Forest Department as per the Manipur High Court decree 2018 and ADC Bill 2021," it said and reiterated the appeal for electing candidates well versed with tribal issues in 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, 2022 .
