PREPAK claims Ukhrul blast, regrets civilian injuries

Claiming responsibility for three bomb blasts that took place at different places of the state on January 25 and 26 including at Ukhrul town, the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has said that the blasts were part ofthe boycott of India's Republic Day celebration in Manipur.
According to a PREPAK statement, the series of bomb blasts including at Gandhi statue platform in Ukhrul town on Januaiy 25 at about 5.15pm, near the iron bridge along Sek-mai-Khurkhul road at about 11.30pm on January 25 as well as the blast at Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak Machin on Januaiy 26 at about 6.15pm were carried out by respectively by Special Task Force A, B and C of oufit's armed wing Red Army.
It was fortunate for the government that two more bombs planted at Keirao Langdum Lamkhai and on the roadside of Heingang Khong Pangei to Saikul road could not explode, the PREPAK statement issued by its publicity officer of the department of publicity & propaganda Mangal Khuman Khuman said.
The PREPAK further said all the bombs including the unexploded bombs were planted as part of outfit's boycott of India's Republic Day celebration as well as endorsement of the boycott call to the RD celebration by like-minded revolutionary groups including CorCom.
Ex pressing regret over inflicting in juries to some people in the blast in Ukhrul town, the outfit said that error in setting the timer of the bomb led to the unwanted incident.
Apart from sharing pain of the injured families, the outfit also prayed for speedy recovery of all those injured in the blast.
