Imphal, February 20 2023:
All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) has urged the Gorkha community in the state to stop using loud speakers till the end of the forthcoming examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur.
In a release, AMGSU publicity secretary Homnath Chapagain complaints have been received from Gorkha students and parents regarding the use of loud speakers in 'Puranas', birthday parties, marriage ceremonies and other religious and non-religious events.
AMGSU is not against such religious programmes but using loud speakers during examinations time brings negative impact in the society and community.
On many occasions loud speakers are being used without obtaining permission from the authorities concerned, it added.
AMGSU president L B Adhikari also appealed to all its units and other local clubs and women societies to monitor the use of loud speakers unnecessarily and inform the authority concerned about the matter.
It also requested all parents and guardians of the candidates appearing in the examinations to share information about unwanted sounds to the AMGSU unit so that the issue could be resolved amicably.
AMGSU further said: "We should not create any kind of environment by which students will be mentally distracted before or during the examinations.
Let us all create a peaceful and healthy atmosphere for the students during these days" .
