I Hemochandra inaugurates water supply scheme

Public Health Engineering Department Minister I Hemochandra inaugurated Matai Water Supply Scheme, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore today.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, the Minister said that the water supply scheme was commissioned in record time.
Saying that protection of forest areas is the key to conserving ground water, the Minister urged the people of the State to grow more trees to ensure sustainable development.
He said that since the water supply scheme has been dedicated to the public, it has now become the responsibility of the people of all the nearby localities to protect it.
The Minister also exhorted the people of Matai to make the village a model village.

In his presidential speech, PHED Chief Engineer H Sunil said that the water supply scheme would cater to the drinking water need and other essential services of around 2000 people.
Principal Secretary of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) WL Hangshing and PHE Additional Chief Engineer L Ibomcha also attended the inauguration function.
