Rival political workers clash at Yairipok

Rival political workers clashed at Yairipok Changamdabi today when supporters of Dr Nimaichand Luwang were opposed by another group of people from holding a political conference at the local primary school.
The melee was brought under control after a strong police team arrived at the scene and several rounds of tear gas shells were fired.
According to information culled from the spot, a melee broke out when supporters of Dr Nimaichand Luwang who has been preparing to contest the Assembly election in Andro AC were asked by local people of Yairipok Changamdabi not to hold any political conference there.
On learning about the melee, a strong police team led by Imphal East Additional SP (L/O), SDPO and OC of Andro police station rushed and they somehow managed to bring the tense situation under control.
Speaking about the incident, Dr Nimaichand Luwang said that the violent confrontation was instigated by the criminal-minded incumbent MLA of Andro AC.
He said that they were holding a booth level workers conference using loudspeaker after obtaining permission from the Imphal East DC.
He claimed that the incumbent MLA was afraid to face him in the forthcoming election.
That was why, he was disturbing political conferences using hired local goons.
He also appealed to all the people to elect only educated people as their representatives.
On the other hand, one Rehana of Yairipok Changamdabi said that the political conference scheduled at Yairipok Changamdabi Primary School was objected in accordance to a collective decision of the local people.
There was no question of the incumbent MLA instigating any confrontation, Rehana added.
