Non-local nabbed, ILPS stir continues

As a part of the ongoing ILPS movement under the JCILPS, the Yurembam Apunba Meira Paibi on August 16 last nabbed a non local who was said to be working at the Yurembam Power Grid for failing to produce identity proof and he was later handed over to Patsoi police station for necessary investigation, conveyed a press release today.
The Yurembam Apunba Meira Paibi in the press release further appealed to all non-locals who do not possess valid identification documents to quit Yurembam area within five days, and added that the Meira Paibi body would not take any responsibility for any unwanted incident resulting from having no valid identification document.
In continuation of the protest demanding implementation of ILPS in the State, various organisations and groups today staged sit-in-protests and public meetings at different places.
Khongman Zone 3 Students' club in association with the Khongman Gram Panchayat and Khongman Meira Paibi staged a sit-in-protest today at Khongman Zone 3 community hall.
Speaking to media persons, a woman protestor spoke on the importance of implementing ILPS in the State.
She said that the step would benefit the future generations and therefore urged the Government to decide accordingly.
Potshangbam Social Development Association, Potshangbam Chaokhat Khongthang Apunba Lup and Potshangbam Chaokhat Khongthang Apunba Lup also staged a sit-in-protest and a public meeting today at Potshangbam Khulen Ibudhou Koubru Shanglen.
The public meeting was attended by the United Mother Organisation's president N Sorojini Leima, Potshangbam Chaokhat Khongthang Apunba Lup's president Khundongbam Loitang Devi, Awangpana United Mother Organisation's president W Bormani Devi, Potshangbam Khulen Lup Meira Paibi Lup's president N Tamu Devi, Potshanbam Social development Association secretary L Manglemchand and Potshangbam Brighter Club president N Babukumar Singh as chief guest, president and guest-of-honour of the event respectively.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, N Sorojini Leima urged the public to work together, unitedly, in order to stop the alarming influx of immigrants into the State.
Only timely interference, she added, could save indigenous people from extinction.
Addressing the Government, Sorojini stated that the Government's phrases 'lets work together', 'lets find a better solution' will not help solve the ILPS problem.
The Government, as the peoples' representative, ought to take decisions keeping public interest in the forefront, she added.
