Zeliangrong leaders set Aug 25 deadline

Leaders of different Zeliangrong bodies have set a deadline on August 25 to book all the cadres of NSCN-K involved in the killing of ZSUM secretary Chunthuigai Kamei.
A resolution to this effect was adopted in a public meeting held at Noney, Tamenglong district today.
Before the meeting, a silent protest rally was also taken out in the area.
The meeting was participated by leaders of Zeliangrong Baudi, All Zeilangrong Students'Union, Zeliangrong Youth Front, Inpui Naga Union and other organisations.
They agreed to launch non-cooperation movement against the particular UG group involved in killing the student leader.
To stop violence and factional clashes among Naga UG groups within Zeliangrong and Inpui region was another resolution of the meeting.
The gathering appealed to all Naga UG factions to give up violence and concentrate on Naga reconciliation.
Another resolution of the meeting was extend full cooperating in paving a way so that the Naga political issue is resolved in a democratic manner.
Before the meeting, a protest rally was taken out around Noney carrying Chunthuigai�s body.
Floral tributes and traditional clothes were offered to the student leader at Noney Keithel.
During the rally and the subsequent public meeting, all the markets and shops of Noney remained shut.
A condolence session was also held in the course of the meeting and it was attended by leaders of UNC, NPMHR, ANSAM and their federating units.
In their condolence messages, student leaders said that the demise of Chunthuigai was a loss not only for the Zeliangrong people but for the whole Naga community.
He was a committed leader who worked for ANSAM with zeal and dedication, they remarked.
On behalf of NSF leaders who could not take part in the condolence service, the ANSAM president conveyed solidarity to the bereaved family.
Chunthuigai Kamei (34) and Jenao Panmei (35) of Ramgaijang (Jiribam) were shot dead by unidentified gun men at Nungkao village in Tamenglong district at about 7.30 am yesterday.
Post mortem examination of the corpses has been done in Nungba PHC.
While Jenao�s body was taken to Ramgaijang, Chunthuigai�s body was taken to his native village Marang Ching after holding condolence service at Noney.
Meanwhile, Zeliangrong Union (ZU) and the UNC have condemned the killing of Chunthuigai and Jenao.
The ZU, through a press release, appealed to all armed groups operating in Zeliangrong region to cease hostilities and armed confrontation.
The UNC said that killing of Chunthuigai and Jenao came a rude shock to the Naga people.
It also conveyed solidarity to the bereaved families.
The ZSU, Barak Valley and the ARDC Jiribam have also condemned the killing Chunthuigai, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
