The 7th Manipur State Film Festival 2010 of the Manipur Film Development Corporation will be held from September 11 to 19, 2010.Thirteen digital format feature films, out of 77 entries, have been selected for screening.
The Preliminary Film Selection Committee of the festival has submitted the selected films to the chairman of the organising committee of the festival, Dr.RK Nimai, IAS, today.
Shri Aribam Shyam Sharma was the chairman of the Selection Committee in the simple fuction held at the MFDC Review Hall.
The selected films include �Khangdreda Nongdamba', �Tayai', �Poukhum', �Novab', �Bomb Blast', �Naoshum', �Kaboklei', �Ingao Ngouna', �Basanta-gi Nonganlamdaida', �Mami Sami', �Chumthang Makhong', �Hayengna Kanna-ga Pagani' and �Ningthem'.
Another 15 non-feature digital films and one celluloid film have also be applied for the five critic and book awards.
Chairman of the organising committee, RK Nimai said that feature films produced in the digital video formats have been included in the film festival for the first time to suit the advancement in technology.
The inclusion of digital films in the festival is targeted to enable feature films in this format to be processed for entry in the national film awards, he added.
Chairman of the film selection committee, Aribam Shyam Sharma expressed hope that more quality digital format Manipuri feature films will be produced since digital format feature films can apply for national awards.
He informed that feature films in digital format can now be entered for the national film awards.

Kh Sorojini said that the construction of the MFDC Hall and the art and culture complex are targeted to be completed by the coming September, and that for the first time, the corporation will institute life time achievement award which would be conferred to film artistes.
The award will consist of a cash award of Rs 1 lakh, a shawl and certificate of honour, she added.
