Sadar Hills folks reel under blockade, counter blockade

The indefinite economic blockade imposed by the UNC along the National Highways counter blockade imposed by valley based various civil bodies at different location in the State capital have caused tremendous hardships to many innocent commuters of the hill districts.
Counter blockade supporters at Khoyathong reportedly seize even a small quantity of commodities destined for Sadar Hills.
Many commuters of Kangpokpi bound passenger buses have lodged complaints of even medical related items being seized by the counter blockade supporters at Kangpokpi bus parking at Khoyathong today.
One woman from Sapormeina in Sadar Hills alleged that she went to Imphal for medical treatment and bought some medicines as prescribed by the doctor but the counter blockade supporters at Khoyathong seized all the items.

She said that even if medical related items are not spared it is not less than intentionally killing the patients.
"We have no option but to remain quiet to avoid unwanted incidents and misunderstandings," she said.
However, the counter blockade supporters need to understand the necessity of an emergency service and items on humanitarian ground, she added.
Another passenger complained that even eatables of small children were seized by the counter blockade supporters inside the bus which is unbecoming of human beings.
An enraged leader of one prominent Sadar Hills civil body said that amid the disappointment and sorrow over the repeated betrayal of the State Government, "we have patiently borne the economic blockade and the counter blockade burden for long and if it is not resolved at the earliest it will definitely compel us to take another drastic step" .
Other passengers of a Kangpokpi bus opined that it will be wise on the part of counter blockade supporters to sensibly implement the counter blockade if it is inevitable while adding "we are similarly the worst sufferers of the UNC sponsored indefinite economic blockade like the valley people and it makes no sense to make us face another similar suffering due of the counter blockade" .
Meanwhile, proce of commodities at Kangpokpi have skyrocketed due to the economic blockade and counter blockade with petrol being sold at Rs 250-300/- per litre and diesel at Rs 120-150/- per litre.
