Uikey pledges to promote Manipur culture

Governor Sushri Anusuiya Uikey has said that she will lend support to promote the rich culture of Manipur in every way possible.
The Governor was speaking at the presentation ceremony of Manipur State Kala Akademi Awards at Maharaj Chandrakirti Auditorium at Palace Compound, today.
The Governor presented the MSKA Lifetime Achievement Award to Kshetrimayum Randhoni Devi, a noted theatre personality of Manipur.
The award carries a shawl, citation, memento and a cheque of Rs 3 lakh.
She also presented MSKA Fellow to Chabungbam Kondum Singh and Sougaijam Thanil Singh and MSKA Award and MSKA Young Talent Award to 19 personalities and six young artists respectively.
At the function, Sushri Anusuiya continued that Manipuri culture is very beautiful and famous worldwide.

She said that the rich cultural heritage of Manipur could be seen even in Yaoshang Festival.
Saying that she is proud to be the Governor of Manipur, she added that she will extend cooperation in promoting the rich cultural legacy of the State.
The Governor went on to state that she will inform the President and the Prime Minister about the beautiful culture of Manipur.
Exuding confidence that the Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA) will play a key role in promoting the unique cultural heritage of Manipur, Sushri Anusuiya continued that MSKA, since its inception, has been making efforts to promote the music, dance, theatre, literature and fine arts of the State.
"The Akademi organizes festivals, workshops, seminars, symposia and cultural exchange programmes.
It has also instituted four memorial lectures.
The Akademi conferred Lifetime Achievement Award to individuals in recognition and honour of their outstanding contribution in promoting Manipuri culture," she noted.
Education Minister Th Basantakumar Singh while speaking at the ceremony said, "our identity is represented by our rich culture and we are proud of it" .
He urged all to contribute in promoting the cultural heritage of the State.
