Kangpokpi, July 12 2020:
Kangpokpi women police and frontline workers from the district administration had a violent scuffle with inmates of the quarantine centre at Motbung Govt High School today.
Women police personnel of Kangpokpi had to resort to beating some of the women inmates at Motbung Govt High School institutional quarantine centre as they obstructed the frontline workers from bringing out six positive inmates from the centre.
According to the Duty Magistrate, Opendro Singh, the frontline workers and the district women police personnel were planning to shift six positive inmates from Motbung Govt High School in the morning at around 10 .

However, some of the women inmates confronted the frontline workers and turned violent, attacking the frontline workers with firewood.
"It was then that I instructed the women police to beat them and bring out the positive inmates," the Magistrate said adding, "we have been politely appealing and requesting them to allow us to take away the positive inmates since morning till afternoon but they failed to listen to our humble request and resorted to violence" .
He also said that the six positive inmates were ready to cooperate with the frontline workers but few of the women seized their luggage and restricted them from coming out before the women police personnel and other frontline workers intervened and took them out from the centre.
The Magistrate also said that their demand was to give an early date for retest which according to medical protocol is not permissible as retest can be done only five days after the identification of the positive inmates at the centre.
The inmates were peeved that despite staying in the QCs for more than 50 days, positive cases have been detected one after another and they could not be allowed to return home.
There are currently 60 women inmates at Motbung Govt High School and they need to wait five more days for retest while the more than 70 male inmates including four couple at Presidency College, Motbung were all found negative and they are likely to be discharged by tomorrow.
