Nov 18 deadline for ILPS reiterated

JCILPS Student Wing, Imphal West has cautioned that they are ready to launch different forms of intense agitations if the Government does not take up necessary steps to implement ILPS in the State by November 18 .
In this regard, a crucial meeting of newly elected general secretaries of student's unions of eight colleges of the district was held at GP Women's College today.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, DM College of Science Student's Union general secretary Yambem Ranjan said that the Student Wing would continue to extend support to the movement of JCILPS.
He added that the Student Wing had requested the Government to do the needful regarding ILPS implementation within October 31 .
However, no visible and satisfactory step has been taken up till date, he added.
Criticising the Government for remaining silent on the issue for long, the general secretary said that they would be compelled to resume their stir if the Government continues to maintain silence on the issue.
He added that representatives from DM College of Arts, DM College of Science, DM College of Commerce, Oriental College, Imphal College and Mayai Lambi College attended the meeting.
On the other hand, he also demanded befitting action against Imphal West Additional SP Y Victoria for her alleged excesses on the members of JCILPS Student Wing.
Meanwhile, JCILPS in association with different local clubs and organisations conducted a verification drive of non-locals at the community hall of Lalambung Makhong today.
During today's drive, many non-locals, who did not possess proper identity proof documents, were found residing in the locality in rented rooms.
Later, members of JCILPS, Lalambung Youth Voluntary Organisation, Lalambung Development Committee and Echel Club asked the house owners not to provide rooms/houses to the non-locals, who do not have verification documents.
