Source: The Sangai Express
Imphal, August 09, 2012:
The Loktak Development Authority (LDA) has once again launched a drive to remove phumdis from Loktak Lake.
The renewed drive began near Thanga since yesterday.
Till this afternoon, LDA using Water Master has managed to hack 95 numbers of thick phumdis.
Thick phumdis planted in Loktak Lake adjoining Keibul Lamjao National Park have also been hacked but somehow they are being kept stationary with the help of the park's staff.
It is reported that caged phumdis arranged in the form of ponds would also be removed.
The phumdi cutting and removal drive was carried out together with police.
