Imphal, May 09 2011:
Civil organisations based in Chandel district have warned of strong agitation if a woman candidate, who had never appeared in the interview conducted on April 25 for recruitment of DOT supervisors under the Health Department but given selection by the selection committee is posted in the district.
Talking to The Sangai Express, vice secretary of All Tribal Women's Organisation, Chandel K Moikham; general secretary of Aimol Students' Union Azim Lanu and president of All Tribal Disable Physical Handicapped Union Modarbom Maring informed that on April 25 last, the interview for recruitment of DOT supervisors on contract basis in various District TB Control Society, which are under the State Health Department had been conducted.
But a woman candidate who did not appear in the said interview has been included in the selection list for Chandel district.
Identifying the selected woman candidate in question as one K Rojita of Singjamei, the representatives of the Chandel based civil organisations have questioned how a candidate who did not appear in the interview has been selected.
They pointed out that in the advertisement for recruitment of the said posts, it has been mentioned that the candidates from local area would be given preference in the selection.
So, three local candidates including one male and two female candidates, have appeared in the interview.
But contrary to all these, Rojita, who is also not a local candidate, has been selected against the post for Chandel district.
How can a candidate from Imphal West be selected against the post reserved for a hill district like Chandel, they questioned, and warned of strong agitation if the selected woman candidate in question is posted in Chandel district.
In addition to this, many interviews for selection of candidates with regard to implementation of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Water Shed Managements as well as for other projects of MACS in Chandel district have been conducted in the past.
But none of the local candidates have been given preference or appointment, they lamented, adding that such discriminatory attitude of the Government is condemnable.
On the other hand, All Tribal Women's Organisation, Chandel and Ching-Tam Apunba Meira Paibi, Pallel have jointly announced their decision of imposing ban on sale and consumption of intoxicants including alcohol, drugs, etc in Pallel area.
It is said that anyone who defy the ban should be held themselves responsible for any eventuality.
