Death of girl child draws flaks from all over

The 14-year-old minor girl, who was found unconscious at a place under Mayang Imphal Police Station yesterday, died at RIMS ICU at around 2 pm today.
The body has been deposited at RIMS mortuary for post mortem, while the suspect identified as Md Arish has been remanded to seven days police custody by a POCSO Court today.
It may be noted that the girl, who was reportedly missing since Sept 1, was found in an unconscious state yesterday at Mayang Imphal.
She was suspected to have been physically assaulted.
Following the news of the death, angry locals took out a protest rally towards Mayang Imphal Bazar where they were stopped by police.
Later, a mob damaged the house of a suspect at Mayang Imphal.
The mob further tried to destroy the house of another suspect but the attempt was thwarted by police.
Police fired several rounds of tear gas while the mob pelted stones.
Several locals and at least three police personnel were injured, said sources.
Additional forces from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur district have been deployed and measures are being taken up to control the mob.
It may be noted that an angry mob had yesterday damaged the house of another suspect identified as Md Arish (19) .
On the other hand, the JAC formed against the incident also stormed the Chief Minister's Bungalow today and it has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Md Aris @ Maja Khan has been remanded to police custody till September 9 by the Special Court POCSO Imphal West today.
Following the death of the girl, several organisations and rights groups have strongly condemned the inhuman act and death of the minor girl.
Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has sought rigorous punishment of the culprits involved under POCSO Act.
An emergency meeting of the commission was held today noon regarding the incident and a team of the commission led by its Chairperson, Sumatibala Ningthoujam visited the victim's family.
The team participated in a meeting organized by the JAC formed for the justice of the victim.
MCPCR assured full support to the victim's family and it has written to authorities concerned for taking up necessary actions against the culprits, the commission said in a statement.
Women Action For Development (WAD) has condoled the death of the victim today and condemned the incident in the strongest term.
Seeking stringent punishment of all involved in the case, WAD in a statement pointed out that crimes against women and children are increasing in the State.
Amid the pandemic, many women have suffered and died due to denial of medical treatment.
Cases of domestic violence, suicide and rape and murder are on the rise.
Appealing arrest of all involved in the heinous crime and speedy trial for justice to the victim's family, WAD urged Government to form an independent and impartial team to investigate crimes against women especially rape, murder and women trafficking etc.
WAD also called on the people of Manipur to stand united and protect and safeguard women and girls.
DESAM (Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur) too strongly condemned the incident and demanded speedy and stringent punishment of all involved in the case.
Stating those who are found guilty of such heinous crime should be awarded capital punishment to set an example, the student body appealed people to refrain from mob violence and lynching.
Condemning the incident, AMSU (All Manipur Students' Union) and its women's wing have also sought stringent punishment of the culprits and demanded speedy trial by the Fast Track Court for justice to the victim's family.
Pangal Students' Organisation, Manipur, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup, United NGOs Mission-Manipur, Youth Development Committee, Heibong Makhong, and other organisations have condemned the incident.
