Imphal, May 03 2021:
In view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) has appealed that the Class X examinations be cancelled and the students promoted while Guardian/Parents HSLC Examination, 2021 has called for conducting the exams.
SSUM urged the Government and relevant department to follow the line of CBSE and give promotion to Class X students for the current session.
The second wave of the pandemic has hit the State and the country hard and there is no saying when the situation will return to normal.
In light of this, decision should be taken to promote the students of Class X without examinations, SSUM said in a statement issued today.
SSUM added that online classes have played a very important role in making up for the cancellation of physical classes, but the online classes were not able to cover many students in far flung places and poor families because of lack of accessibility to smartphones and internet connectivity.
As there is also no confirmation on when the exams can be conducted, the best and most logical approach would be to cancel the exams and promote the students, added the statement.
On the other hand Guardian/Parents HSLC Examination, 2021 urged the Government to conduct the HSLC examination as most of the students have completed preparation of 75% of the syllabus.
In a statement issued today, the association said conducting the examination will help in boosting the morale of the students and it will also save their academic career.
The association urged the Government to conduct the examination with strict observation of SOP when the situation of the pandemic gets better.
