Imphal, October 02 2011:
Commerce and Industry Minister Y Erabot has questioned the Home Department's inaction against acts of intimidation committed by house guards of Okram Henry on civilians outside their duty area on Imphal-Dimapur highway at Mantripukhri by frisking commuters.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of a Durga temple cum community hall at Mantripukhri Bengali colony today.
The community hall was constructed from Erabot MLA Local Area Development Fund at the cost of Rs 20 lakhs.
Erabot said that some of his workers were supervising the final touch being given to the hall last night when house guards of O Henry came out and checked the workers thereby disturbing them in addition to harassing civilian commuters by frisking them .
With the house guards creating disturbances outside their area of operation, the Police Department has been facing unnecessary trouble.
Under circumstances, it is questionable why the Home Department is not taking up any action against the errant police personnel, Erabot stated.
Expressing over the completion of the temple cum community hall, Erabot wished that the forthcoming elections are held peacefully.
The inaugural function of the community hall was held amidst tight security.
