Okram Ramananda (14) who sustained grievous head injuries after falling from a bus while on his way to join anti-NSCN (IM) ceasefire meeting at Kakching Lamkhai gate on July 28 expired at the JN Hospital at 5.30 pm today.
Ramananda S/o Manaoyaima of Langathel was a student of class seven at the Langathel High School.
He was stuck by a bamboo pole while traveling on top of a bus for attending a public pledge against the ceasefire at Kheba Ching.
Earlier in the day, he had joined a rally from Kakching to Pallel.
Hundreds of students of the Langathel High School and Eureka High School, Khongjom and well wishers who had gathered at JN Hospital paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of Ramananda amidst tearful scenes at a ground near the HN Hospital today.
The body was later brought to the RIMS morgue.
Meanwhile, the inquiry Commission headed by Retd.Session Judge Ch Upendra Singh constituted by the State Government to probe into the June 18 and July 20 incidents which led to the death of 15 civilians and damage of Government properties would begin soon.
A highly placed source said that the chairpersons would soon issue a public notice on the matter on august 1.Normal sitting of the Commission would be started within ten days after making public notice, it said adding that the proceedings would be done at the premises of the Ministerial Block (north).
