Lunghar village in Ukhrul district basked in glory as the Luira phanit (seed sowing) festival began at the village with full fanfare.
The Luira inaugural function was graced by Wonthing Zimik, DI, ADC (School), Ukhrul as the chief guest.
She urged Lunghar villagers to uphold the tradition and customs of their ancestors.

Attired in traditional dresses, jovial villagers displayed various items.
Mishivam Hashuwo performed the traditional ritual to invoke the Almighty to shower bountiful harvest in 2014.The Luira celebration will continue till Jan 31 .
