Tour operators from Myanmar who are presently taking part in the Manipur Sangai Festival held a meeting with fellow tour operators of Manipur yesterday and the two sides discussed facilitating movement of tourists between the two countries through terrestrial and aerial routes.
The interaction programme held at Classic Grande was jointly organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Tourism Department.
The tour operators from Myanmar were also shown different medical facilities available in Manipur.
The meeting also discussed arranging a new route through Manipur for Myanmarese pilgrims who visit Bodh Gaya quite regularly.
It is estimated that around 6000 Myanmarese pilgrims visit Bodh Gaya every month and the travel expenditure is expected to be much less if they take the new route through Manipur.
Th tour operators from Myanmar left Imphal for their country in a Golden Myanmar flight yesterday.
