Imphal, May 27 2019:
North East India Development Party (NEIDP) has demanded Narendra Modi to clarify whether the cease fire between the NSCN (IM) and Central Government extends to Manipur, as soon as he assumes the Prime Minister office.
Speaking to media persons at NEIDP office at Tera Bazar today, the ex-candidate of the party in the Inner PC, RK Anand, demanded the Central Government to destroy or clear out all, if any, NSCN (IM) designated camps located inside Manipur.
He narrated that recently, an alleged statement of the outfit was published in the local dailies which claimed that the ceasefire agreement signed between the two entities has always covered Manipur and added that there were also some recent incident regarding Assam Rifles destroying alleged NSCN (IM) camps in Ukhrul.
All of these developments have renewed apprehension in the minds of the people, he added.
RK Anand continued that the question of whether the ceasefire agreement covers Manipur or not is a rather sensitive issue, and is one which is vehemently opposed by the people of Manipur.
This is the same issue which resulted in the death of 18 people on June 18,2001, he said, demanding Narendra Modi to clarify to the people and CSOs of Manipur as soon as he assumes office.
On the other hand, he lamented that even though Manipur People Bill has been lying in the dust waiting for the President's assent, no positive development has been seen even till date.
Now, the big question is will the CAB be implemented even before the Manipur People Bill is given any assent, he asked.
Congratulating the successful candidates of the recent election, RK Anand urged the newly elected MPs as well as the party to work in the interest of the people and the State.
He further explained that NEIDP was established with the aim of building a strong regional political force in the NE region and appealed to the people to offer more support to the party.
He also expressed gratitude to all who voted for him and supported him during the election.
