Imphal, March 27 2017:
The proscribed PREPAK celebrated the 37th Red Army Raising Day at different places with different communities yesterday, conveyed a press release issued by the outfit's publicity and propaganda secretary-in-charge Leibak- Ngakpa Luwang.
The 37th Red Army Uprising Day was celebrated at the outfit's central headquarters, general headquarters, tactical headquarters, base areas, transit camps and training centres.
The Uprising Day celebration at the general headquarters was graced by Red Army's Chief of Army Staff Lt Col N Romi Meitei and General Staff Officer-2 as chief guest and president respectively.
Two minutes' silence was observed in honour of the departed cadres of the outfit and this was followed by offering of revolutionary gun salute.
Later, the Military Affairs Committee Chairman's message was read out to the gathering.
It was rather disheartening that one student organisation called a general strike in haste on such an important day like the 37th Red Army Uprising Day, said PREPAK.
Had they thought about if there was any major event before taking the decision to call general strike, they would have been highly appreciated, it decried.
It further appealed to all concerned not to call bandh or general strike on any day on which a revolutionary group is celebrating a major event.
The outfit also conveyed gratitude to all the people who took part in the 37th Red Army Uprising Day and offered light to departed cadres on the occasion.
The outfit reiterated that it would continue its struggle against the alien rule until freedom and an egalitarian society are achieved.
