The Justice PG Agarwal Commission, entrusted to investigate the the infamous July 23, 2009 firing incident at Khwairamband Keithel has set March 29 as the date for commencing the argument hearing on the case.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Justice (Retd) Agarwal said there would be no change in the schedule set for the argument hearing as the Commission is determined to submit relevant report of the case to the Government at the earliest.
Informing that a previous schedule to begin the argument hearing had to be deferred as the Police Counsel cited some unavoidable circumstances to appear before the Commission, Justice Agarwal said even though no specific time frame could be spelt out at the moment on when the hearing would conclude every effort is being made to complete the process and submit a report to the Government.
It may be mentioned that inspite of notification served to respective family members of Chungkham Sanjit and Thokchom (O) Rabina Devi, none from the victims' families had appeared before the panel to make/present their statements.
On the other hand, CBI sleuths roped in to investigate the case after outcries from various section of the society, had already filed chargesheets against the police.
The July 23 BT Road incident had rocked the State for months, after Tehelka came out with its damning sequence of photographs which showed police commandos shoving Ch Sanjit into a nearby pharmacy and later coming out with his lifeless body, with the claim that he was killed in a shoot out.
