Imphal, December 26:
Manipur Intellectual Forum (MIF) has expressed its disappointment over the failure of both the Opposition and the Ruling Front in to arriving at consensus decision for repealing AFSPA during the just concluded Assembly session.
The Forum had expected that the Assembly session would be a deciding session for repealing of the Act, but the leader of the House played a foul play in endorsing the visit of the Review Committee members on December 27.The vindictive role played by the House leader was abusively condemnable, Forum secretary general W Priyokumar Singh said in a statement.
The role of the Opposition during the session was commendable as it moved a specific resolution though defeated on the floor of the House, he said.
Therefore, he added, the Forum has resolved that the Review Committee members should not be welcomed and no discussion should be held on the issue with them.
The Forum speculated that the hectic discussion on the Act could be initiated by admitting an 'Adjournment motion under Rules 64 to 68 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of Manipur Legislative Assembly, MIF said, announcing its moral and physical support to the Apunba Lup fighting for the cause of the people.
JAC irked with Minister's remark: Joint Action Committee of Sekmaijin to Khordak has objected to the Rural Development Minister's remark on the floor of the Assembly with regard to repairing of the road stretch from Sekmaijin to Khordak Ichil.
JAC publicity secretary Md Janabi Ali, in a statement said that the reply given by Minister is a direct insult to the people.
Despite the claim of the Minister, the repairing/construction work of the road stretch under PMGSY has been left midway.
In fact the area has always remain underdeveloped for a long time due to negligence of the Govt in various aspect like road communication, Education, Health, Power, etc.
