Dr Jitendra stresses on regional connectivity

Union Minister of DoNER Dr Jitendra Singh has stated that officials of DoNER Ministry, NEC and officials of the Government of Manipur have discussed certain modalities on how to expedite new projects and ongoing projects with maximum use of modern technology in Manipur.
Dr Jitendra Singh briefed media persons today about the new projects and ongoing projects being implemented in the State at the conference hall of, Secretariat South Block here.
Considering the inaccessibility due to topography and hilly terrain of the region, DoNER has been working on regional connectivity.
Officials of the Central Government including officials of DoNER have discussed with the Chief Secretary of Manipur about the feasibility of some kind of mobile dispensary.

"Moreover, the ministry has discussed with the Civil Aviation Ministry and they have shown us encouraging response and we will work out with the ministry", he added.
Commenting on Manipur Sports University, Dr Jitendra Singh stated that Manipur truly deserved to have a Sports University since it produces maximum number of medal and award winners in various athletic events including Olympics.
"We have a certain land acquisition issue regarding the Sports University but I am sure, the matter will be sorted out with the Ministry of Sports, Govt.of India and officials concerned as soon as possible", Dr Jitendra said.
Stating that they would find out the status of Loktak Lake issue and try to clear the perception of the public, Dr Jitendra complemented the State administration and officials for much closer co-ordination they maintain with Delhi and NEC Shillong.
The press conference was also attended by Chief Secretary O Nabakishore, NEC Secretary Ram Muivah and Addl Chief Secretary Shambhu Singh.
On the other hand, BJP Manipur Vision Document convenor Dr RK Ranjan has informed Dr Jitendra Singh that maximum projects taken up in Manipur during the past 15 years under NEC were concentrated in Thoubal district.
Taking advantage of his position as Minister in charge of Planning Department, maximum number of projects taken up under NEC have been located at the CM's home district, he alleged.
Pointing out that public sector undertakings taken up by the Government of Manipur like Hundung Cement Factory, Khandsari Sugar Factory, Jiribam Tea Estate etc have failed to take off, Dr Ranjan urged the DoNER Minister to revive these industrial units.
Dr Ranjan also sought attention of the DoNER Minister to re-introduce Imphal-Silchar flight service and also to keep Imphal-Aizawl flight service which is going to be shelved from November 25 .
