From April this year to till date, Bishnupur district police have been able arrest in all 60 UGs cadres including two arms-runners and recover six different types of weapons, SP of the district has informed.
Addressing a press conference at the Bishnupur district police headquarters today, SP Th Radheshyam pointed out that of the 60 UGs arrested since April, 13 belonged to PREPAK, 26 to KCP, 9 to UNLF, 5 to PLA, 4 to KYKL, 1 to NNC while two others were arms-runners.
During the same period, six arms were also recovered.
The recovered arms included 1 M-16 Rifles, 1 AK-56 Rifles, two 9 mm pistols and two 7.65 mm pistols.
In addition to these, five hand grenades have also been recovered, SP Radheshyam said.
The SP further informed that Bishnupur district police too have stepped up security measures in view of the recent incidents of targeting migrant workers.
Bishnupur district police personnel are being deployed round the clock in different parts of the district where non-Manipuri migrant workers are living.
Contacts are also being established with Army, Paramilitary forces and CRPF in this regard.
Meanwhile, Bishnupur district police commandos have reportedly arrested one cadre of UNLF from near Bishnupur Forest Gate at around 11.30 am today.
The arrested cadre has been identified as private Nongthombam Dinesh alias Naoba alias Ibocha alias Pintingkai (23) of Yumnam Patlou.
