Imphal, September 23 2013:
While many States have started executing works under PMGSY Phase-13 and 14, Manipur is unable to proceed beyond Phase-8 owing to many complaints, hindrances and pending Court cases.
Speaking to reporters, Manipur Hills and Plain Contractors' Association (MHPCA) Vice-President N Kumar Meitei said that rivalries among Ministers, Engineers, sub-contractors and contractors have slowed down the work progress of Centre sponsored PMGSY being taken up under MSRRDA.
There are even cases of complaining to the Prime Minister's office and pending Court cases, he added.
As such, the State is unable to proceed beyond Phase-8 while many States have started executing works under Phase-13 and 14 .
In this regard, N Kumar appealed to all concerned to resolve the differences in Phase-9 and 10 to avoid similar hindrances in the interest of the people of the State.
Meanwhile, MHPCA convened a meeting at Manipur Press Club recently, he said and added that the meeting directed the PMGSY eligible contractors not to disclose their respective profiles to anybody.
The meeting also resolved to put in effort to maintain good rapport among contractors and sub-contractors.
