In connection with the ongoing trial of Professor Islamuddin murder case, an Investigation Officer of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) gave his statement as a prosecution witness in the Sessions Court Imphal West today.
The Investigation Officer identified as Ng Khamrang (51) is presently working at Head of Branch SP In-Charge CBI Shillong.
He is the prosecution witness number 67 .
All the accused in the case were also produced before the Court.
In his submission, Ng Khamrang stated that he was working as the Deputy SP CBI Anti-Corruption Bureau, Guwahati in 2010 and the main Investigation Officer of the case at the relevant time was Additional SP DS Mann of CBI SC III New Delhi.
He submitted that he took up the investigation after SP CBI SC III New Delhi asked SP CBI Guwahati to do so.
He mentioned that he had collected original customers application form with photograph in respect of BSNL postpaid mobile and mobile numbers of other private companies with regard to the case .
Discharging the Investigation Officer from the trial of the case number 70 of 2015, the Court fixed April 15 as the date for further trial of the case.
It may be mentioned that CBI had submitted charge sheet with 79 prosecution witnesses before the Court.
Professor Islamuddin was shot dead in broad daylight by some unidentified persons who came on a Kinetic Honda scooter inside the campus of Manipur University on May 25, 2009 .
A case was registered in Singjamei police station in connection with the incident.
Two days after the incident, the State Government handed over investigation of the case to CBI.
The investigation agency in its charge sheet filed had mentioned that Professor Islamuddin who was the Dean of Students Welfare, MU was killed in connection with the election to Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) .
