No lower classes till August 7

Imphal, July 22 2022:
Following the cabinet decision and the consequent government's order to resume normal classes for class 8 and above from Monday, the Department of Education (S) has extended the closure of
normal classes for 7th standard and other lower classes till August 7 .
As per an order issued by commissioner of education (S) H Gyan Prakash, the decision was taken after re-assessing the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the state and the rate of vaccination among children of 12 years and above.
Children below 12 years of age continue to be more vulnerable to get infected by Covid-19 as they
are yet to get vaccinated.
In view of the vulnerability and as a precautionary measure for the health and safety of the children below 12 years of age, all schools (Government/ Government Aided/Private/affiliated to CBSE) located in the state shall not conduct physical classes for children below 12 years of age, which is up to Class VII and the schools shall remain closed for these
students till August 7 in public interest, the order stated.
It further stated that Covid Appropriate Behaviour, Covid-19 SoP and guidelines issued by the government from time to time shall be strictly observed by all concerned while conducting physical classes for Classes VIII and above, which are allowed to be re-opened from Monday.
