Hunger strikers picked up by police

Police on Friday picked up many supporters who are on fasting unto death demanding ILP system in Manipur from various places.
It may be mentioned that many people, including students, have been staging indefinite hunger-strikes.
Early on Friday, Imphal East Police along with a medical team picked up five student protesters who were on indefinite hunger strike from Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy.
Immediately after the arrest, a third batch of five more students came out and resumed the hunger strike at the same spot.
Also, 75-year old Apabi who has been fasting indefinitely at Thangmeiband THAU area was picked up by the police on Friday as her health condition deteriorated.
However, one 45-year old man of the local club came out and resumed the fast in the same spot.

Meanwhile, Police personnel picked up the eight DESAM volunteers who were staging indefinite hunger strike in front of DESAM office on Friday.
Nine new student volunteers came out and continued the strike, thereby strengthening their support for ILPS demand in the state.
Three students of DESAM Thoubal Unit, who were on indefinite hunger strike, were also arrested by the police at Thoubal Wangmataba.
But three new volunteers continued the protest immediately.
All the arrested protesters were either admitted to hospitals or were sent to jail till the time of filing this report.
Kshetrimayum Kunjeshori (35), daughter of Ksh Kuber of Singjamei Wangba Kshetri Leikai, who went on indefinite hunger strike since Thursday morning 8, demanding immediate implementation of ILP system in Manipur has affirmed her stand.
Meanwhile, South East Youth's Organisation (SEYO), Mongkhang Lambi Model Club (MMC), Athletic Sports Association (ASA), Pebiya Pandit Youth's Development Organisation (PPLYDO), XI Star Sporting Union have announced to ban entry of non-Manipuris at the areas under Torban Kshetri Leikai Gram Panchayat until the implementation of the much demanded ILPS in Manipur.
Thokchom Marphy (27) of Lairikyengbam Leikai, one of the four who went on indefinite hunger strike since August 19 at Lairikyengbam Leikai demanding immediate implementation of inner line permit system or similar law, which is favourable to the indigenous communities of the state and punitive action against those police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood, has been admitted at JNIMS Hospital after he was fainted on Friday morning.
Laishram Rameshore (41) of Lairikyengbam Leikai Salam Leirak, Oinam Sanjit (32) of Moirang Lamkhai and Waikhom Bronson (58) of Kontha Khabam Maning Leikai continued their fasting despite serious health conditions.
Karam Romila (18) daughter of K Nandakumar of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai and Karam Chinglembi daughter of K Nungen of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai have started indefinite hunger strike since Friday morning 10 at nearby Chingmeirong Eastern Motor as second phase.
The duo has demanded immediate implementation of ILPS or similar law in the state to protect the indigenous people of Manipur.
