Imphal, September 19 2012:
Even though a dead Pony (horse) has been lying on the road right in front of Hotel Imphal for the last couple of days, thereby causing inconveniences not only to tourists staying in the Hotel but also to the passersby, Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) has remained silent from removing the carcass.
The primary objective of IMC is to keep Imphal city neat and clean.
However, of late, the IMC has stopped performing all its duties for reasons best known to them.
As such, Imphal city is turning into a large garbage pit for pretty long time now.
The abandonment of a dead Pony in front of Hotel Imphal has further added to the agony of the people.
With such bizarre situation prevailing in the heart of Imphal city, that too right in front of Hotel Imphal, the only government undertaking in the state which has been proposed to be upgraded into a 5 Star Hotel under the PPP model, it is becoming crystal clear that IMC has ceased to function.

Street vendors near Hotel Imphal told Hueiyen Lanpao that it is very unfortunate on the part of the concerned authority not to attend to the dead horse and keep it lying there for the last couple of days.
Such disgusting sight has destroyed the image of Manipur in the eyes of the tourists visiting the state.
Over and above, the foul smell emanated from the carcass has not only driven away customers, but has also come to pose health hazard, the street vendors added.
It is worth mentioning here that Pony, which is the only horse breed found in Manipur, is today on the verge of extinction and the state government has been taking up certain measures to protect and preserve the endangered species.
