Mayek anniversary

MEELAL organised the 11th anniversary of Mayek Chatpa Numit at GM Hall today.
Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh, MEE-LAL president Thokchom Babulchand Meitei, Art and Culture Director Dr K Sushila, Language Planning and Implementation Director Dr Laishram Mahabir Singh, SCERT Text Book Officer Dr Mangsatabam Nalini Devi and KM Blooming Higher Secondary School founder Kh Menjor took part in the event as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, Th Radheshyam said that language is a major factor which measures the level of a society.
He said that MEELAL played a big role when Meitei Mayek began replacing Bengali in Class I and II from 2006 and expressed belief that the organisation would continue to take main roles in the future.
He pointed out that there were no Meitei Mayek textbooks for BA and BSc standards and said that the Director of Language Department, Council of Chairman and MEELAL would take up steps to translate and upload BA Manipuri textbooks to a website.
He further said that interested students can log in to the website to view the contents.
He stressed the need for translating good books to Meitei Mayek for today's generation to take its full benefit.
The website of MEELAL, www.meelal.org was also launched as a part of the function.
