Imphal, October 16 2011:
Even as the economic blockade clamped along the highways by Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee has completed 84 days, different women organisations are set to organise a deliberation session to chalk out a road map of ending the prolonged agitation at Manipur Press Club on October 20 .
This was informed by Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president L Memchoubi in a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today.
L Memchoubi said that the session would put in effort to bring about a solution to the ongoing economic blockade.
The session would also discuss on how to avoid such prolonged agitations clamped along the highways which are the lifelines of the State, she added.
L Memchoubi urged all the civil society organisations, intellectuals and concerned citizens of the State to express their views in the deliberation session.
Taking part in the press conference, president of Women Association for Civic Action, Kangleipak, S Ibetombi said that State and Central Governments have been remaining as silent spectators although the people of the State are reeling under intense hardships due to the economic blockade.
Had such blockades happened in other parts of the country, the Prime Minister and Home Minister would have intervened a long time back, she observed.
Such attitude of the Centre is the testimony of how the Government of India has been neglecting the State, S Ibetombi lamented.
