CM reviews Aadhar cards preparation

Chief Minister O Ibobi today reviewed progress of the ongoing preparation of Aadhar cards for citizens of the State.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, Principal Secretary (Home and Health) Dr Suresh Babu, DCs and officials of Census Operation were present at the review meeting.
The meeting noted that necessary measures should be initiated to do away with the present system where citizens have to stand in long queues for biometric enrolment.
Imphal West district has prepared the maximum number of Aadhar cards so far and 70.95 per cent of the district's total populace have already been covered.
Necessary data for 55,000 households have been digitized for implementation of National Food Security Act.
Still data for 24,000 households are yet to be digitized.
The meeting decided to complete the digitization work of the remaining households by March.
The meeting further decided to enhance DCs' role in HIV/AIDS control measures and also in reviewing performance of NGOs.
