Lamka, September 14 2011:
Reiterating its stand, the COPTAM has stated that the proposed re-organisation of administration and police district boundaries shall be opposed if the Government fails to consider and fulfill the points it had raised before.
Restoration of original district boundary, Jiribam remaining as a hill adminstration even if district status is granted, surveyed land in the hill should remain under hill administration as 'surveyed land' is never a valid argument for transfering a village or an area to Valley district or conversion into a revenue district, are some the points COPTAM have raised before the Government.
The additional points include, upholding the areas that fall within the constituency of hill MLAs and MDCs as hill administration, bifurcation of hill districts only after the recommendation and approval of ADCs and HAC, and separation of police administration and general administration.
Besides it argued that the publicity handout for submission of complaint and public hearing to the committee is too short.
