Imphal, April 12 2016:
All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation has asked all concerned to immediately stop trying to create communal tension in the State.
In a statement, the organisation urged the Government to bring an amicable solution to the flare-up arising out of Mayang Imphal Yangbi incident.
On April 7, three youths identified as Md Farooq Khan, Md Saddam and Md Zamir were brutally beaten by a group of people on the charge of trying to steal a vehicle near a park at Mayang Imphal Yangbi.
Although, the trio was rushed to RIMS hospital, Md Farooq Khan and Md Saddam succumbed to injuries at the hospital on April 7 night.
AMMSO said that the Government is yet to take action against the persons involved in the merciless thrashing of the three innocent youths although their names have been given to the police.
On the other hand, the student body also strongly condemned police action on bandh supporters during the general strike clamped by the JAC constituted against the killing of Md Farooq Khan and Md Saddam and injuring Md Zamir.
Regarding the matter, the organisation demanded suspension of Mayang Imphal police station OC.
The organisation alleged said that police intentionally fired at the bandh supporters and thrashed them during the general strike.
It also decried Mayang Imphal AC MLA and Education Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar for not taking up necessary steps to cool down people's ire.
Although, the matter was sensitive, the Minister left Imphal on April 9 after simply attending a meeting at a local club at Mayang Imphal on April 8, the organisation said.
AMMSO urged the JAC constituted by the majority community in connection with the incident to be careful to avoid communal flare-up.
JAC's justification of the mob attack on the three innocent youths with its statement, 'mob is mob' would only aggravate the situation, the student body observed.
It also urged all concerned to put in joint efforts to maintain harmony.
