Imphal, August 09 2011:
A federal students' body of Chandel district in Manipur has expressed resentment over alleged spinning of money by examination centres in Pallel area right under the nose of BSEM.
The over indulgence in spinning money by admitting excessive numbers of external candidates by some schools in Pallel and Komlathabi in the past few years has eroded the quality of education and has misled the students of the area into practicing unfair means in the exams, said the convener of Pallel and Komlathabi Area Tribal Students' Union (PKATSU) Max Roel here today.
Secretary of the union Jangkhomang Haokip said, "relaxed" examination centres have only about 300 students between them in their rolls, but more than 3000 candidates appear for the exam every year.
The overburdened schools are engaging in rampant admission of external students for quick money without regard to the future of the students, he said.
The federal students' body warned the concerned authority to reign in such mismanaged schools and said that no consideration will be shown to schools that perpetuate unhealthy education system in the area.
A statement from the body said that it will strongly resist transfer of other candidates to centres in Pallel area, absorption of external candidates by local schools, impersonating and use of unfair means in exams.
In a complaint communiqu sent to BSEM today, the students' body blamed its failure to supervise and regulate such malpractices by school authorities.
It requested the board to intervene in the matter immediately in the interest of the students and quality education in the area.
