Imphal, June 09 2019: Some BJP MLAs reportedly suggested BJP National general secretary Ram Madhav to effect a change of leadership of the BJP-led coalition Government.

Ram Madhav and BJP organising secretary (North East in-charge) Ajay Jamwal arrived here yesterday and held a closed door meeting at Hotel Classic Grande with Chief Minister N Biren, Works Minister Th Biswajit and BJP Manipur Pradesh president K Bhabananda on the growing discord within the BJP-led coalition Government.

The BJP National secretary also met all BJP MLAs and key party functionaries of the State one by one last evening and elicited their opinions and positions pertaining to the latest political developments.

It was during this one to one meeting that some BJP MLAs reportedly suggested change of leadership while some others wished BJP to focus fully on the State's development.

Ram Madhav left Imphal for Delhi today.

It has been already reported that Ram Madhav would submit a report to the BJP high command.

Based on the same report, the BJP high command would take a decision whether there would be any change of guard in the State Government or not.

Incidentally, since sometime back, there were rumours about growing dissent within the coalition Government led by N Biren but it became quite palpable when six Ministers stayed away from the Cabinet meeting held at Ukhrul district headquarters on June 4.Notably, Works Minister Th Biswajit, Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, Health Minister L Jayantakumar, YAS Minister Letpao Haokip and PHED Minister L Dikho stayed away from the particular Cabinet meeting.

Soon after the Cabinet meeting held at Ukhrul district headquarters, Chief Minister N Biren announced that his Council of Ministers would be definitely reshuffled within the current month.

However, given the unfolding political situation, it is not yet clear as of now whether Chief Minister N Biren would reshuffle his Council of Ministers or not.

NPF and NPP are the two major partners of the BJP-led coalition Government.

Both the parties have four MLAs each and all the four NPP MLAs are Cabinet Ministers.

But only one NPF MLA is given ministerial berth.

Earlier, NPF took a decision at Kohima to pull out of the coalition Government but the party is yet to act on their decision.
