MU adopts reservation norms of 2006

A meeting of the Manipur University Academic Council was held today on the imbroglio over reservation in admission and the meeting decided to adopt the Central Educational Institutions Reservation in Admission Act 2006 for the current academic session.
The Academic Council meeting held in MU Court Room was chaired by VC in-charge Prof Th Jekendra.
As the Academic Council meeting decided to adopt the Central Educational Institutions Reservation in Admission Act 2006, there would be reservation of seats at the rate of 27 per cent for OBC, 17 per cent for SC and 7.5 per cent for ST for the current academic session.
The meeting further resolved to take up all possible measures so that a case pending in the Court regarding the reservation issue is disposed at the earliest.
Meanwhile, MUSU has welcomed the decision of the Academic Council.
It also appealed to all students of the university to concentrate on their studies and avoid all untoward incidents.
After the Academic Council adopted its resolution, police personnel were deployed inside MU campus so as to avoid any untoward incident.
