CM seeks three days time, general strike suspended

The indefinite general strike called by the JAC constituted against the murder of Ningombam Satyabhama since 6 am of April 6 has been suspended temporarily in view of the upcoming Cheiraoba.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting between the JAC and civil society organisations today.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister O Ibobi while assuring that all those involved in the murder of Satyabhama would be apprehended for sure, sought three days' time from the JAC.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with eight women leaders and four representatives of the JAC this evening.
Police have been investigating into the murder case employing all its available resources, conveyed one woman leader named Gyaneshori quoting the Chief Minister.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting at Singjamei Chingamakhong, Gyaneshori said that certain clues have been already unearthed as conveyed to them by Ibobi.

DGP Y Joykumar who was present at the meeting said that search operations have been going on in suspected areas although the whereabouts of one suspect could not be traced till date.
Before the meeting with the Chief Minister, a large number of people set out on march from Kakwa but they were blocked by police at Chingamakhong.
Nevertheless, police made arrangements for a meeting between the Chief Minister and some representatives of the protesters.
Thongju AC MLA Th Bishwajit also arrived at Chingamakhong.
From there, he accompanied a team of women leaders and members of the JAC who were allowed to proceed till the Chief Minister's office.
Earlier, the JAC organised a meeting with civil society organisations at Kakwa Laishram Selungba Leikai Bo Lampak community hall.
At first, the meeting decided to take out a protest rally till the Chief Minister's office.
The second resolution of the meeting was to temporarily suspend the ongoing general strike from this midnight.
To continue with other democratic forms of agitation was the third resolution.
In case police cannot pull up the culprits by April 15, another public meeting would be convened on the next day to chalk out more intense course of agitation, the meeting further resolved.
Ningombam Satyabhama was found strangulated to death at Bashikhong Wangkhei Loumanbi paddy fields in the afternoon of April 5.She left home on April 3 .
