Tengnoupal MLA commits to Heirok-Moreh route

Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency MLA D Korungthang has asserted that his priority would be towards expeditious development of the Heirok-Khudengthabi road to shorten the distance between Imphal and Moreh.
The MLA accompanied by State Public Works Department officials yesterday carried out an inspection of the HeirokKhudengthabi route, completion of which will shorten the Imphal-Moreh distance by about 30 kilometres compared to the commonly traversed NH-39 route to reach the border town.
speaking to newspersons during the inspection tour, Korungthang stated that a well-maintained Heirok-Khudengthabi road will be more convenient as the entire route is devoid of steep hill ranges and will be cost-effective for there will no need to construct bridges.
Expressing concern that traffic between Imphal and Moreh will come to a complete halt if the dilapidated bridge over Lokchao river collapses, the MLA reasserted that such an impending threat entails equal emphasis in developing a new route through the Heirok-Khudengthabi section.
With regard to need for developing roads and bridges under Machi Block of Chandel district, he maintained that PWD authorities would be apprised to focus on the matter.
The MLA's inspection tour also covered the road section that connects Langol village with Pallel town, as well as inter-village roads in between Kakching Lamkhai to Minou, Langol Village, Langol Khunou, K Tuison, K Tuinem, Khunbi, Machi, BRTF Junction and Tengnoupal.
Noting significance of road networks under Tengnoupal AC in the economic development of Manipur, he said official process has been initiated for setting up a police out-post at a suitable location at an estimated cost of Rs 1.20 crore.
Korungthang confided that the State Government would be urged to provide necessary infrastructure for upgrading the police out-post to a police station.
Further informing that efforts are on to construct a water supply scheme to ameliorate inconveniences faced by Machi Block villagers, he conveyed that in case State Government provides pipes for the said scheme the villagers are prepared to extend all possible assistance.
The MLA also affirmed that maximum effort would be made for development of education and health care infrastructure in Tengnoupal AC.
He also assessed progress of work for a tourist facility at Kadang Hill in Langol village as well as development of a local playground at the said village.
