Imphal, July 07:
The All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) has sternly warned rumor mongers not to attempt and create fissures amongst the various communities living in the State and said such rumor mongers would be taken as enemies of the people.
In a statement released to the press the student body today said people should not be fall into the trap hatched by the Indian agencies, Muivah and some entities living outside the boundary of Manipur to drive a wedge amongst the various communities who have been living in the State in brotherly co-existence since time immemorial.
AMSU also appealed to all not to make provocative statements.
Coming down heavily on the Centre, the statement said if the Centre takes the word of Muivah more seriously than the cries of lakhs of Manipuris then it would testify that democracy in the country is just a big sham.
The student body further said that it is abhorrent that Home Minister LK Advani who is closely associated with the infamous destruction of Babri Masjid should have the temerity to try and disremember the territorial integrity of Manipur merely to please the NSCN (IM), which is an armed group waging war against the Indian Union.
Even though fifteen people have died in the agitation against the ceasefire extension to Manipur the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have not deemed it fit to visit the State even once and take stock of the situation, AMSU lamented.
Instead of trying to soothe the hurt sentiment of the people Advani is now readying to go to Nagaland on a pleasure trip said the statement.
Strongly condemning the efforts of the State administration to muffle the voice of the people against the ceasefire extension, AMSU said the State administration is on the other hand encouraging meetings and other activities organized at the behest of Muivah to sow seeds of communal distrust.
